Volker plans to visit Ukraine in mid-May

U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker plans to visit Ukraine in mid-May, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty has reported.

We are still working out the date, and everything looks like it will be approximately in the middle of May. I will also visit the east of Ukraine, not only Kyiv, he told a correspondent of the Ukrainian service of Radio Liberty during a meeting with foreign journalists in the Center for International Press of the U.S. State Department on Friday.

The diplomat plans to visit the war zone. At the same time, he is not ready yet to say whether he will visit Russia and whether he will have any negotiations with Russian officials.

As reported, Volker planned to visit Ukraine, in particular, Donbas in late April - early May.

"I want to visit the Eastern part of the country to see the conflict zone from the Ukrainian side. Want to meet with Ukrainian colleagues in Kyiv, but before that, I'd love to hear a response from Russia and to understand what we can speak about," he said in an interview with the Voice of America on March 27.

Volker said that his last contact with the Russians regarding the conflict in Donbas was in January 2018, after that, the representatives of Russia did not get in touch, and added that the United States was disappointed with Russia's actions throughout the world.
