U.S. will not accept deal on Ukraine without its consent - Deputy State Secretary Sullivan

Washington will not agree to a deal on Ukraine without its consent, and will also be facilitating efforts to restore its territorial integrity and independence, United States Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan said.

Crimea is Ukraine, Donbas is Ukraine, and the U.S. will never agree to replace one region with another, nor to make any deal on Ukraine without Ukraine's consent, Sullivan told Ukrainian students in Kyiv on Wednesday, speaking on the subject of Ukrainian-American relations.

The U.S. will fully support Ukraine in restoring territorial integrity and guaranteeing safety for its citizens, he said.

The direct consequence of the Russian "aggression" was that Russian speakers living in Donbas and Crimea suffer the most, Sullivan said.
