Belarusian FM, U.S. envoy Volker discuss Donbas settlement
Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei and United States Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker discussed possible ways of settling the Ukrainian conflict at their meeting in Munich, Germany, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry's press service said on Sunday.
"The possible settling of the Ukrainian conflict was in the focus of attention during the talks between Vladimir Makei and the special representative of the U.S. Department of State for Ukraine, Kurt Volker," the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said in its statement about Makei's participation in the 54th Munich Security Conference.
Makei and Munich Security Conference Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger discussed the modalities of the prospective meeting of the forum's main group planned in Minsk in the fall of 2018. The meeting will be dedicated to the subject of the East-West dialogue and regional security, it said.
Also, Makei met with Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, and European External Action Service Secretary General Helga Schmid to discuss further interaction between Belarus and the European Union.
Makei held several other bilateral meetings and talks on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.
