USS Carney visits Odesa to enhance Black Sea security

USS Carney (DDG64) has entered the Black Sea to demonstrate the U.S. commitment to the collective defense of the Black Sea, HQs of U.S. 6th Fleet has said.

"The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Carney (DDG 64) arrived in Odesa, Ukraine, January 8, 2018, for a scheduled port visit," the statement said, adding the visit demonstrates a shared commitment to promote security and stability within the region, while seeking opportunities to enhance interoperability with partners in the Black Sea.

The destroyer will remain in Odesa until January 11, 2017, conducting operations to ensure security at sea and bolstering readiness of military naval potential of allies and NATO partners.
