Yelchenko doesn't consider it advisable to submit issue of bringing peacekeepers into Donbas to UNGA
The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, Volodymyr Yelchenko, believes that the introduction of the issue of the introduction of the UN peacekeeping mission to Donbas for consideration by the UN General Assembly is not expedient yet.
"I do not think that this is expedient at the current stage ... We have not used up all the possibilities in the Security Council ... Theoretically, this possibility exists. We have not seriously worked on this yet, but there are ways that we will be allowed to do if necessary," Yelchenko said in an interview published on Tuesday by the European Truth Internet Publication, answering the relevant question.
The Ukrainian diplomat reminded that the decision of the General Assembly would not be binding. "I do not know how it can be realized later," he added.
Yelchenko also reminded that the deployment of the UN mission on Ukrainian territory is impossible without the consent of Ukraine.
