Fire fighting at ammo depot in Vinnytsia region continues

Fire fighting on the territory of an ammunition depot near the town of Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region, continues, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has reported.

"Steps to localize the fire in the arsenal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Vinnytsia region continue, the hot spots are being and extinguish on the territory of the arsenal," reads a report on its Facebook page posted on Wednesday morning.

The General Staff said the military unit's fire-fighting tanks and trucks are involved in putting out the fire. More special equipment has been sent to the scene.

At the same time, the military unit whose arsenal is detonating triggered the fire has been blacked out.

"The military unit has been de-energized and the personnel of the arsenal are in shelters," the headquarters said.

The report also says that almost 22,000 civilians and about 500 families of servicemen were evacuated at night.

At the same time, movement of all types of transport is closed, including motor transport on the Zhytomyr-Mohyliv-Podilsky highway; railway transport on the Sosenka - Kalynivka stretch of the South-Western Railways; and air transport in the radius of 50 km from Kalynivka.

In addition, the Kalynivka-Ukrflora and Kalynivka-Lavrivka power lines have been de-energized. Gas supply to the villages of Dorozhne, Medvedka and Lavrivka has been cut off.

As reported, at around 22:00 on September 26, reports arrived about explosions of ammunition in an arsenal of the Defense Ministry near the town of Kalynivka (Vinnytsia region). Residents of Kalynivka and the populated areas in a 10-kilometer zone (Pavlivka, Medvedka, Dorozhne, Salnyk, Stryzhavka) were notified. The population is being evacuated.
