Ukraine insists EC decision on OPAL gas pipeline is mistake - Poroshenko
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko insists that the decisions of the European Commission on the OPAL gas pipeline that opens opportunities for Russia's Gazprom to boost gas supplies to Europe bypassing Ukraine is a mistake.
"We have agreed to effectively coordinate our steps also in energy security issues. You know that today support of Ukraine's position that the decisions of the European Commission that would permit Gazprom to increase gas pumping via the OPAL pipeline and could open a way for the implementation of Nord Stream 2 is a mistake is important for us," he said at a joint briefing with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite in Kyiv on Monday.
Poroshenko said that the Nord Stream 2 project is unviable. It aims only at continuing the hybrid war, expansion and causing material damage to Ukraine and other countries.
Earlier this decision was criticized by the Ukrainian president and Polish President Andrzej Duda.
