Lutsenko: Rada’s procedural committee afraid to decide on Novinsky

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko has said that the Verkhovna Rada Rules Committee is trying to absolve itself of the responsibility for the decision on the proposal of the prosecutor general to strip MP from Opposition Bloc Vadym Novinsky of parliamentary immunity, that was the reason of the request for additional materials.

"That is, they do not want to essentially make the decision ... and inventing reasons how to shift the problem to another body without deciding on their own ... They are asking for more materials knowing that the law forbids me to give these materials. They are afraid to provide the definite answer and acting in the such a way to shove the problem onto me, provoking me either to break the Code of Criminal Procedure or not to get an answer," Lutsenko told reporters on Wednesday after a meeting of parliamentary Rules Committee, which considered the motion of the prosecutor general to stripe Novinsky of parliamentary immunity.

Lutsenko said that he expects the representatives of the Committee will provide the list of documents they wish to further receive from the Prosecutor General's Office, but he intends to act according to the law.
