Poland does not recognize Duma election results in Crimea – Polish foreign ministry

Poland does not recognize the results of the elections to the Russian State Duma held on the territory of Crimea, the Foreign Ministry of Poland said.

"Ministry of Foreign Affairs doesn't recognize the outcome of the parliamentary elections to Russian State Duma conducted at the territory of the Crimean Peninsula, which legally belongs to Ukraine," reads a statement posted on the website of the Polish Foreign Ministry.

According to this statement, Poland, as well as the international society, condemned illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia in March 2014 – that position was confirmed by the resolution of the United Nations' Parliamentary Assembly No. 68/262 of March 27, 2014.

"Preservation of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine constitute crucial condition for the peaceful solution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. In this context, election of deputies representing occupied territories puts under question the legitimacy of the elections," the ministry said.
