Poroshenko orders inquiry into landslide at garbage dump near Lviv that killed four

Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko in a telephone conversation with Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy spoke against the politicization of the problems with the landfill outside Lviv.

"One should clean away garbage, instead of doing big politics out of it," Poroshenko's press service quoted him as saying on Tuesday.

The Ukrainian president instructed relevant authorities to investigate the causes of the tragedy and promised the full assistance to Lviv by the central authorities in solving the current problems.

As reported, following the death of four rescuers under the garbage landslide at the Hrybovychi garbage dump near Lviv on May 30, the police opened criminal proceedings into violation of safety rules when working at hazardous facilities.

The investigation department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) launched criminal proceedings into the fire at the Hrybovychi garbage dump, which preceded the landslide.
