'Mirotvorets' organization shuts website following scandal

The "Mirotvorets" ("Peacekeeper") Center has announced the closure of its eponymous website and is now preparing to transfer information at its disposal to an open, online (Internet) source.

According to the website, the organization "took into account public reaction to the publication that named journalists accredited by the so-called Donetsk People's Republic terrorist organization, in the light of the demand of Ukrainian ombudsperson Valeriya Lutkovska, as well as criticism by EU officials. Concerns of Anti-Ukrainian journalists led by Deputy Information Policy Minister Tetiana Popova were also taken into account."

The center's staff is archiving all information, which later will be available to any volunteer who wants to download it to his or her personal computer.

"We're grateful the enforcement agencies of Ukraine for their use of our system to expose pro-Russian militants, Russian spies, and to ensure peace and serenity, as well as everybody, who for the sake of public welfare, sent us information about separatists, terrorists, mercenaries and other war criminals. We grateful that you were with us and were worried about us with all your heart," the website says.
