Two Ukrainian servicemen have been killed in the anti-terrorist operation zone in Donbas on Sunday, Ukrainian presidential administration spokesman Oleksandr Motuzianyk has said.

"Two [Ukrainian soldiers] have been killed. This happened near Mayorsk," he told a press briefing in Kyiv on Sunday.

One of these servicemen died from a fragmentation wound sustained by him when Ukrainian military positions came under grenade launcher fire, Motuzianyk said.

"The second one was a police captain, who was rescuing civilians. A civilian car came under fire. As a result, a local woman was injured. The policeman did everything he could to divert the car from the line of fire. Saving the civilians cost him his own life," the spokesman said.

In the past 24 hours, ceasefire violations have been recorded mainly near the city of Donetsk, where militants used mortars and grenade launchers, Motuzianyk said.

"Infantry fighting vehicles, tanks and 82mm mortars were fired as well. All of these weapons are prohibited by the Minsk agreements," he added.
