Ukrainian army reports 21 attacks on its positions in Donbas over past day

A report published by the press center of the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine on Facebook on Monday morning listed 21 attacks by militants in the period from 6 a.m. on Sunday till 6 a.m. on Monday, over half of them in the nighttime.

"Weapons were used 21 times over the past day. More than a half of those occurrences were observed in the nighttime," the report said.

Ukrainian positions came under small arms attacks near Opytne and south of Avdiyivka near Donetsk, the report said.

Small arms were also used against a Ukrainian army stronghold near Starohnativka in the Mariupol sector, besides, grenade launchers and large-caliber machineguns shelled Ukrainian army positions in Shyrokyne near Mariupol, the report said.

Ukrainian servicemen had to return fire by use of small arms, it said.

The report said that Ukrainian army positions were attacked near Zaitseve, Mayorsk and Leninske, north of Horlivka, by use of small arms and large-caliber machineguns, and automatic grenade launchers were fired, in addition to machineguns, in the east, near Luhanske.

Several shots were fired from weapons outlawed by the Minsk agreements towards Troitske, on the border between Donetsk and Luhansk regions, it said.

According to the report, militants did not breach the truce the Luhansk region.
