Request for gas imports from Slovakia cut to 8.9 mcm on Oct 1

The application for natural gas imports from Slovakia to Ukraine as of October 1 has been reduced to 8.884 million cubic meters (mcm), according to live data from Eustream, the operator of the gas transportation system in Slovakia.

Over the last five days of September gas imports to Ukraine from Slovakia exceeded 30 million cubic meters.

As reported, Ukraine, the Russian Federation and the European Commission on September 25 initialed an agreement on the terms of Russian gas supplies in the coming heating season. The price of Russian gas for Ukraine in the fourth quarter of 2015 will be $227.36 per 1,000 cubic meters.

According to Naftogaz Ukrainy Head Andriy Kobolev, purchases of Russian gas do not mean refusal from its supplies from Europe. At the same time, Naftogaz is in talks with European partners to lower the price.

Ukraine for the first nine months of 2015 imported 12.5 billion cubic meters of gas from Europe and Russia, which is 22.4% (3.6 billion cubic meters) less than in January-September 2014. In particular, Ukraine during this period was delivered 8.25 billion cubic meters of gas through Slovakia.
