Fall in industrial production in Ukraine slows to 13.4% in July – statistics

The decline in industrial production in Ukraine in July 2015 slowed to 13.4% year-on-year from 18.1% in June, 20.7% in May, and 21.7% in April, the State Statistics Service has reported.

According to its data, in relation to June this year industrial production in July increased by 3.4%, and in general for the seven months its fall slowed down to 19.5% year-on-year from 20.5% in the first half of 2015.

The service said that the calculation of this data did not include part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone. In addition, as in the previous quarters of 2014 and the first months of 2015, the figure is given excluding the occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

Industrial production in Donetsk region in July fell by 36% (in June by 46.6% May 45.9%, April 49.5%) and in Luhansk region by 59% (in June 78%, May 86%, April 89%).

As for the other regions, if in June 2015 nine regions managed to achieve industrial growth compared to June 2014, then in July their number fell to three - the figure recorded in May. The State Statistics Service recorded a positive figure only in Vinnytsia (58.7%), Zhytomyr (24%) and Rivne regions (9.7%).
