Opposition Bloc demands Rada disbandment over Mukacheve events
The parliamentary coalition must be held responsible of the events in Mukacheve and Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada re-elected, the Opposition Bloc Party said in a statement.
"The coalition of war must answer for the shooting in Mukacheve … The Ukrainians are not feeling protected, poverty has come into Ukraine, corruption and lawlessness are flourishing. The war continues in Ukraine. All this is a result of the efforts by the current coalition of war and parliament. This has to stop! The current coalition and parliament have failed. The coalition of war must be disbanded. Verkhovna Rada must be re-elected," the party said in the statement, which was posted on its official site on Sunday.
"The (Ukrainian) state no longer holds monopoly on the use of force and law enforcement," the opposition party said.
"Paramilitary entities with an uncertain status and weapons in excess are settling their arguments in what is not even a near-front but peaceful town in the west of the country … Who are these people, who gave them the right to carry and use weapons? Where are the results of the Ukrainian authorities' efforts to investigate the incident, punish the responsible and, crucially, prevent something similar happening in other cities and villages in Ukraine? We demand the authorities' answers to these questions," the Opposition Bloc stressed.
Three people were killed and at least eleven injured in a shootout between representatives of Right Sector, an extremist organization banned in Russia, and police officers in Mukacheve on July 11.
