Ceasefire agreement in Novoaidar district breached - Luhansk regional governor

The attack on the town of Triokhizbenka in Luhansk region marred the ceasefire agreement reached on Tuesday, Luhansk Regional Administration Head Hennadiy Moskal has said.

"The Ukrainian army and the illegal armed units agreed yesterday [on June 23] upon complete ceasefire in the period from 12 p.m. till 7 p.m. in the area of Triokhizbenka in Novoaidar district. The agreement derived from the need to repair a high-voltage power line damaged in the shelling last Friday[…] Thirty minutes after electricians started repairs, Triokhizbenka was shelled with an anti-tank guided missile from the direction of the village of Pryshyb," says a report posted by the Moskal press service on Wednesday.

Moskal pointed out that the repairs were expected to be done on the bank of the Siversky Donets River, along the bed of which the contact line falls.

The shell hit a privately-owned home on Bulavyn Street in the center of the village and practically razed it. The homeowner, a 57-year-old woman, was not hurt as she was in her vegetable garden at the time.

"Despite the shooting, the electricians continued the repairs but they had so much work to do they could not finish it. The power outage in Triokhizbenka and the adjacent villages of Kriakivka and Kalaus has been [in effect] since Friday. The repairs in Triokhizbenka will continue today," the report said.
