Militants attack Ukrainian paramilitary ambulance in Stanychno-Luhansky district – Moskal
A raiding forces group of Russian-backed militants in Stanychno-Luhansk district in Luhansk region attacked a Ukrainian paramilitary UAZ ambulance of the Ukrainian troops, one Ukrainian soldier was shot dead, the other was heavily wounded and rushed to hospital, head of Luhansk Region Military and Civilian Administration Hennadiy Moskal said.
The ambulance was attacked in Ukrainian-controlled territory very close to the border with Russia at about noon on Monday, he said.
"An ambulance with two soldiers, which was driving from the village of Kamyshne to the village of Syze, came under gun fire. One soldier (a male, 46 years old) was shot dead, and the other was heavily wounded. He is in hospital now," reads a report published on Moskal's official website on Tuesday.
"This is the territory which is frequently visited by raiding forces from the Russian side. Militants plant landmines – two military vehicles have already been blown up on such a landmine, and they carry out other sabotage acts. Yesterday they fired on an ambulance, and special [medical] emblems on the vehicle didn't stop them from firing on it," Moskal said.
