Eastern Partnership countries not ready for getting EU membership prospect - Juncker
The Eastern Partnership countries are not ready to get a membership prospect from the European Union, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has said.
The prospect of the EU membership does not exist for any of the Eastern Partnership countries, as both they and the EU are not ready, Juncker told reporters in Riga on Thursday ahead of the Eastern Partnership summit.
He noted that the future enlargement of the EU or the eventual EU membership of its Eastern partners are not on the agenda of the Riga summit.
The Eastern Partnership initiative involves six countries Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Belarus.
