Putin advisor Surkov, FSB officers were in Kyiv when Yanukovych ordered Maidan shootings – SBU chief

Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Valentyn Nalyvaichenko has confirmed the statement made by Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin that the shooting of protesters on Maidan in Kyiv in February 2014 was ordered by former president Viktor Yanukovych.

"I [have] said and I will say it again: Mr Surkov did come and stay [in Kyiv], as did officers of the FSB [Federal Security Service] of the Russian Federation. As for the phrase "orchestrated the executions," I didn't say this. The Prosecutor General's Office is in charge of this investigation, [however] I can confirm the words of the prosecutor general [that Yanukovych ordered the shooting of protesters on Maidan]," Nalyvaichenko said at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on the fight against corruption.
