Ukrainian, German and French leaders come up with new settlement proposals - Kyiv official

At their meeting in Kyiv on Thursday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande formulated "absolutely new proposals" for settling the conflict in eastern Ukraine, deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential administration Valeriy Chaly has said.

"These meetings, which effectively facilitated the diplomatic teams' vigorous work aimed at preparing such proposals, produced absolutely new ideas, which come as a follow-up to the Minsk agreements and help implement them," Chaly told the 1+1 television station on Friday.

"We will not allow anyone to drop the Minsk agreements because they tackle issues that cause our concern," he said.

At their talks, the three leaders discussed "all points of the Minsk agreements," he said.

For its part, Germany's newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported, citing its own sources, that a new peace plan presented by Merkel and Hollande would give the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics greater autonomy and territory they have brought under their control since the Minsk agreements were signed in September.
