Poroshenko calls on international community to join fight against terrorism after Volnovakha tragedy

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has called upon the international community to join the fight against terrorism after the massacre of 12 Ukrainian civilians in an artillery strike by pro-Russian militants of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), near a Ukrainian roadblock outside the town of Volnovakha in Donetsk region.

"A DPR-LPR rocket has taken a toll of 12 Ukrainian lives. Ukraine calls on the world to support and [demonstrate] solidarity in the fight against terrorism! #JeSuisVolnovakha! The hearts of Ukrainians and all civilized nations were united with France after the terrorist attack," Poroshenko wrote on his Twitter page on Wednesday.

As reported, a passenger bus was shelled by militants near Volnovakha on January 13, killing 12 and injuring 16 people, who are now being treated in hospital.

The crime is being investigated by Donetsk regional prosecutors under Part 3 of Article 258 (an act of terrorism) of Ukraine's Criminal Code.
