Ukraine sets up intl secretariat on security, civilian cooperation with NATO

Ukraine has set up an international secretariat on security and civilian cooperation with NATO, which is beginning to work, Ukrainian Security Service chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko said.

"An international secretariat on security and civil cooperation between Ukraine and NATO and between Ukraine and European Union security institutions is beginning work in our country. The man who will lead this work and who will represent and coordinate all activities of international cooperation on security within the Ukraine-NATO and Ukraine-EU formats is Yevhen Kyrylovych Marchuk," Nalyvaichenko said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Marchuk has previously served as the Security Service chief, defense minister, National Security and Defense Council secretary, and prime minister. He holds the military rank of army general.

Marchuk will in fact be the top coordinator representing the Security Service between Ukraine and NATO.
