Poroshenko Bloc asks Turchynov to convene working group to prepare for first meeting of new parliament

The Bloc of Petro Poroshenko has called on the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of the seventh convocation, Oleksandr Turchynov, to hold a meeting of a working group early next week to prepare for the first meeting of the newly elected parliament so that such a meeting could be held by late November.

"The Bloc of Petro Poroshenko is appealing to Mr. Turchynov as chairman of the Verkhovna Rada that there is an urgent need, at the beginning of next week, to convene a meeting of the preparatory group on organizing the first meeting of the Verkhovna Rada so that it could start its work," the head of the bloc's election headquarters, Vitaliy Kovalchuk, told journalists in Kyiv on Friday.

He said that the party had also urged all newly elected deputies to promptly submit the necessary documents to the Central Election Commission on their resignation from previous jobs.

"The Bloc of Petro Poroshenko again notes that the work of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada should begin as soon as possible, before the end of November this year," Kovalchuk said.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that consultations on the drafting of a coalition agreement continued in the parliament building on Friday.
