Australia to provide assistance to restore Donbas, to open embassy in Kyiv

Australia is ready to support the re-integration of Donbas regions, which have been affected by combat actions, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said during a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
Abbott said he hoped Ukraine would restore peace and stability in the region soon and after that Australia intends to return its mission in order to complete search and investigation into the Malaysian Airlines Boeing crash, the Ukrainian president's press office said.
Comprehensive contacts between the two countries should be enhanced and the Australian embassy should be opened in Ukraine, Poroshenko said. Abbott said that he supported this initiative and that the Australian embassy would be opened in Ukraine soon.
Abbott invited Poroshenko to visit Australia in the short term. Poroshenko said he had accepted the invitation and would pay the visit after the situation in Ukraine had stabilized.
