Ukraine continues preparations for signing agreement with EU - Arbuzov

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov has said that Ukraine has not renounced talks on the Association Agreement with the European Union.

"The establishment of three working groups that we set up with Mr. Fule during the last meeting is a guarantee that we will continue work and prepare for the signing [of the agreement]," he said in an interview with 1+1 channel on Sunday evening.

"The effort itself confirms that this is very important for us and that we are advancing to the signing and we are preparing for that," Arbuzov said.

He was sure that in this context Europe will help Ukraine in its talks with the IMF. "We are ready to work on that with Mr. Fule, too. We will involve European experts to reach agreed positions and sign the agreement with the IMF," he said.

Arbuzov said that Sunday heard two different statements - one by European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule and one by Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt.

Earlier Fule said that the European Union was suspending work with the Ukrainian government on the Association Agreement. "Words & deeds of President [Viktor Yanukovych] & government regarding the Association Agreement are further & further apart. Their arguments have no grounds in reality," he tweeted on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Bildt stated that the doors to Ukraine for signing the Association Agreement with the EU are "wide open."
