Court allows trial of ex-NBU head Arbuzov in absentia

Kyiv's Pechersky district court has satisfied a claim from Ukrainian Public Prosecutor General's Office which insists on the launch of former Ukrainian Central Bank Governor and former First Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov's trial in absentia, Member of Parliament from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Mustafa Nayyem wrote.

"Kyiv Pechersky court judge Volodymyr Karaban has satisfied a claim filed by the Prosecutor General's Office for a special investigation in absentia into former First Vice Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov," he wrote on Facebook.

In his words, it in fact gives the green light to trial in absentia and adjudication.

As was reported, a similar claim was filed in regard of former Health Minister Raisa Bohatyriova, former Deputy Income and Tax Minister Andriy Ihnatov, former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, and their procedures of trial in absentia have already begun.

At the same time, courts rejected prosecutors' motions against former Income and Tax Minister Oleksandr Klymenko.
