Ukraine and China have agreed to develop cooperation in the field of aircraft engine production.

A representative of the Ivchenko Corporation management told Interfax-Ukraine that the plans for the development of Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation are stipulated in the agreement on strategic cooperation in aircraft engine production between Ivchenko Corporation and the AVIC Corporation, which was signed on December 5 during Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's visit to China on December 3-6.

"Under the agreement signed, the Ukrainian and Chinese parties will develop cooperation in the modernization of existing aircraft engines, as well as the joint creation and production of new engines for aircraft and helicopters," the interlocutor of the agency said.

Ivchenko Corporation includes Ukraine's leading aviation industry enterprises - Ivchenko-Progress and PJSC Motor Sich (both based in Zaporizhia). Currently the corporation provides the development and production of engines of 370 to 1,100 hp.

AVIC is the leading Chinese aircraft manufacturer, one of the world's leaders in the field of aviation manufacturing. It has offices and subsidiaries in more than 40 countries.
