Yanukovych planning to partake in Eastern Partnership Summit

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will take part in the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius on November 28-29.

"My plans did not change. As I have said numerous times, I am going to travel to Vilnius," the president said in an interview with Ukrainian TV journalists on Tuesday.

The president stressed that protection of national interests is the main thing on Ukraine's European integration course.

"The issue of signing or non-signing any agreement has to be reasoned," Yanukovych said.

Ukraine and the EU were planning to sign the Association Agreement at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius on November 28-29.

On November 21, the Ukrainian government decided to halt its preparations for the signing of the Association Agreement.

On November 26, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that at the upcoming summit the president was planning to discuss a possibility of holding consultations between Ukraine, Russia, and the EU regarding the signature of the Association Agreement with the EU by Kyiv.
