Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych still plans to attend the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius, Yanukovych' aide Andriy Honcharuk said.

Despite the suspension of preparations to sign the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, the visit of Yanukovych to Vilnius still makes sense, the aide said.

"The visit remains as planned… Firstly, other agreements will be signed there but not at the presidential level, and secondly, a number of countries do not sign anything at all," Honcharuk said.

Yanukovych will not go to Vilnius, leaders of the opposition parliamentary faction will, Leader of the Batkivschyna parliamentary faction Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.

It has been reported that the Ukrainian government decided earlier on Thursday to suspend preparations to sign the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement due to the necessity to improve considerably trade and economic relations with Russia and the CIS countries.
