German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle has declared Germany's readiness to receive former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko for treatment.

"Germany has made its proposal. Germany is ready to receive Tymoshenko for treatment, and this is a humanitarian proposal," he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Thursday following a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

Westerwelle noted that his talks with Yanukovych were effective, but he did not disclose any details about the meeting.

"I cannot go into particulars - the conversation was very long and intensive. I'd like to emphasize that we are in difficult talks now, from the political and legal viewpoints," he said.

The official also stressed that Germany wishes the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius to be a success for all sides.
