Traffic in Kyiv's downtown will be limited during the celebration of the Flag Day and the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine's independence in Kyiv, the press service of Kyiv City State Administration reported on Thursday.

It said that on August 23 Khreschatyk Street (from Instytutska to Khmelnytskoho Streets) would be closed to traffic during the flag-raising ceremony near the premises of Kyiv City State Administration, from 0900 to 1100.

The press service also added that Khreschatyk Street would be closed to traffic from Besarabska Square to European Square from 2200 on August 23 until 2200 on August 25.

Moreover, on August 24, during a flower-laying ceremony, temporary traffic restrictions near the entrances to the monuments of Taras Shevchenko, Mykhailo Hrushevsky and Volodymyr the Great are possible.

Approximately from 1200 to 1430 on August 24 traffic movement will be stopped during the holding of a carnival entitled "Nationwide Parade of Embroidered Shirts 2013". It will be held from Lavrska Street (from the administrative premises of Mystetsky Arsenal) to Square of Glory, Mazepy Street, Hrushevskoho Street, Shovkovychna Street, Instytutska Street and Independence Square.

Besides, during the holding of state events the "Independence Square" metro station could be closed for entrance and exit of passengers. During this time the station will work only as a line interchange.

On the night of August 24 and August 25 the Kyiv metro will be open 30 minutes longer than usual.
