Yatseniuk brings to Brussels statement by three opposition parties about need to sign Association Agreement

Batkivschyna faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that he has brought to Brussels a statement by three opposition parties – Batkivschyna, UDAR and Svoboda – regarding the need to sign the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.

"I brought to Brussels a statement by three opposition parties, which clearly says that the three opposition parties consider it necessary to sign the agreement at the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius. This position has been conveyed to our European partners," he said during his visit to Brussels on Wednesday.

Yatseniuk said that he had already held a number of meetings with EU commissioners (Stefan Fule and Karel De Gucht) and MEPs.

When asked why the visit is made in such a period, Yatseniuk said that "time is running out."

"We cannot wait until November [the Eastern Partnership summit scheduled for November], as progress must be demonstrated in a short period - in the next few weeks of the parliament's work. The opposition's political task is to sign the agreement with the EU and, secondly, get [during the visit] a clear vision of our partners as to whether they are really ready to sign this agreement and what needs to be done to sign the agreement," the politician said.
