MP proposes to ban collection and spread of confidential information about person without their consent
Regions Party MP Olena Bondarenko has proposed to foresee in the law a norm that bans the collection and spreading of the confidential information about the person without their consent.
As the Verkhovna Rada Website reported, Bondarenko registered in the parliament a bill on amendments to the Ukrainian law on information.
The MP proposed to give a definition to the notion "information about an individual," and to write a legal regulation. In particular, in Article 11 to include a norm, under which "the collection, keeping, use and spreading of the confidential information about a person without their agreement is banned, except in cases foreseen by the law and only in the interests of national security, economic well-being and the protection of human rights." According to the bill, "confidential information about an individual includes data about their nationality, education, family status, religious beliefs, state of health, as well as address, date and place of birth.
According to the offered amendments, "every person is ensured free access to information that concerns them personally, except in cases envisaged by the law."
