One of the main tasks for 2013 is the development of transport infrastructure, namely the start of subway construction to the Troyeschyna residential area, Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration Anatoliy Holubchenko said on Monday.

"One of the priority tasks for 2013 is to begin the construction of the fourth subway line. This is the issue that has been disturbing Kyiv residents for a long time. And next year we will finally start its actual implementation," said Holubchenko.

In addition, he said that the upgrading of public transport, as well as the subway rolling stock would continue. In particular, he said that the implementation of the project for the comprehensive modernization of subway cars using funds from the targeted green investments (the Kyoto Protocol) has been started this year.

"According to this project, we plan to obtain 95 modern cars, which in the future will run on the Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska line," said the official.

He added that in mid-December the chief work executor, OJSC Kriukov Car Building Works, received an advance payment of UAH 300 million. Another UAH 380 million will be transferred to the company's account in the near future.
