Parliamentary elections in Ukraine legitimate, says ICES observers

The parliamentary elections in Ukraine were legitimate and stuck to the international election legislation, ICES President and a deputy of the Israeli Knesset of the fifteenth convocation Alexander Tsinker has said, while presenting the ICES election observation mission's report on the elections.

"Our mission thinks that the Verkhovna Rada election process was a successful, legitimate, and democratic act of free expression of citizens' will, which was held according to the parliamentary election law and the international election legislation in general. We recognize these elections," he said at a press conference hosted by Interfax-Ukraine in Kyiv on Monday.

Tsinker added that the elections were surprisingly calm. The ICES mission visited 314 polling stations in various regions of the country, 46% of which were evaluated as positive, 53.6% - satisfactory, and 0.4% - unsatisfactory.

Tsinker summed up that the drawbacks pointed out by the mission were not systematic and could not affect the results of the elections.
