Health Ministry invites German doctors of Tymoshenko to consider completion of her treatment

The Ukrainian Health Ministry has sent an official letter to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry with the request to send invitations to Berlin's Charité Clinic with the proposal that the doctors treating former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to come to Ukraine.

"The Health Ministry, as part of considering an application from patient Tymoshenko concerning her desire to be discharged from Ukrzaliznytsia's Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 and an application from the State Penitentiary Service regarding the holding of a meeting of the international medical commission, considers it necessary to invite the German doctors to resolve the issue regarding the completion of Tymoshenko's course of treatment," the ministry's press service reported on Wednesday.

The ministry said that since representatives of the Charité Clinic are responsible for the organization and effectiveness of Tymoshenko's course of treatment in the Kharkiv hospital, the Ukrainian part of the international medical commission believes that it is not authorized to make decisions on the patient's discharge from hospital.

Representatives of the Ukrainian side of the international medical commission are ready to hold a meeting at any time convenient for the German specialists, the press service said.

The Health Ministry also noted that the last meeting of the international medical commission was held in Kharkiv on October 14, with the participation of German doctors Karl Max Einhaupl, Lutz Harms and Anett Reisshauer. Following the meeting, it was decided to extend the term of Tymoshenko's stay in hospital.
