Azarov sees possibility of increasing number of tourists in Crimea

Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov considers it possible to at least triple the number of tourists coming to Crimea.

"The number of tourists who visited Crimea this year (and this year there was a record high number of tourist for the whole period of the country's independence), could be tripled. We'll turn Crimea into a beautiful health resort, where all CIS residents will be able to improve their health," he said, speaking at the International Investment Business Forum "Yalta Business Meetings" in Yalta on Friday.

The premier believes that it is necessary to invigorate the implementation of large projects of regional development in Crimea.

Earlier the Crimean resort and information center reported that as of September 19 some 5.7 million people had visited Crimea, which corresponds to the total number of tourists for the entire year of 2011.

"The number of tourists will reach a record high level of 6 million people by the end of the year," Resorts and Tourism Minister of Crimea Oleksandr Liyev said.
