Zelenskyy: Ukraine gives Europe protection from Putin, needs fair union

Ukraine protects Europe from Russian aggression of Vladimir Putin and expects to be treated by Europe as an equal member, as well as to help Europe become stronger together and restore its position in the world, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a visit to the exhibition Your country first – Win with us at the Ukrainian House on Wednesday on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
"What Ukraine gives to Davos, and what Ukraine gives to Europe is hope for protection from the likes of Putin. And Ukraine simply needs, so as not to be left alone, a fair union with Europe," the head of the Ukrainian state told journalists.
He noted that his speech the day before at the WEF and subsequent meetings in Davos were about the fact that Europe must be strong.
"Wake up, remember that it is a subject... You will be respected when you are strong, and Europe needs to be strong and independent. And then there will be different relations with America, and then it will be clear that it is in Europe's interests to have an alliance with the United States and vice versa," Zelenskyy explained.
According to him, the meetings in Davos helped obtain several important signals on air defense, military packages, and there were also meetings with countries that help Ukraine "not officially."
"Therefore, positive things have been achieved for Ukraine," the president summed up.
