The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police have exposed six new schemes for evading mobilization, 19 organizers of illegal schemes were detained in different regions of the country, the SBU has said.

"The defendants traded in fake medical certificates or transported draft dodgers abroad outside checkpoints for money," the Ukrainian special service said in a statement on its Telegram channel Wednesday.

According to the SBU, law enforcement officers stopped four minibuses near the border in Odesa region, in which local criminals were trying to transport 47 draft dodgers to the unrecognized Transnistria.

"A car with the organizers of this scheme was traveling along with the 'motorcade' with those liable for military service. In total, the criminal group for transporting draft dodgers consisted of nine people, including two foreigners from the South Caucasus," it said.

In Kharkiv region, as reported by the special service, another four organizers of schemes for draft dodgers have been exposed. Among those detained are a local lawyer and a repeat offender convicted of premeditated murder.

They recruited more than ten accomplices to the illegal activity – the criminals sold fictitious medical certificates of disability to remove them from military registration.

"During the searches, about half a million U.S. dollars were found on the detainees," the special service said.

It also reported that a former lawyer who helped draft dodgers flee abroad under the guise of humanitarian aid forwarders has been detained "red-handed" in Kyiv.

"To implement the criminal mechanism, the defendant registered his clients with a local charity organization," it said.

In Poltava region, an official of the Health Department of Poltava Regional Military Administration has been exposed.

"To obtain fake disability certificate, she sold fake medical certificates of magnetic resonance imaging examinations," the SBU said.

Another scheme in the region was organized by two entrepreneurs who sold fake certificates of employees of the State Emergency Service to draft dodgers.

In addition, according to the report, in Khmelnytsky region, the deputy chairman of the medical advisory commission and two local doctors who groundlessly issued medical certificates to conscripts to obtain disability were notified of suspicion.
