Zelenskyy announces possible visit of Italian president to Ukraine

Italian President Sergio Mattarella may visit Ukraine and take part in a conference on the country's reconstruction, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

"I just had a meeting with President Mattarella, he is very positive. I told him that it is time for him to come to Ukraine. Since the last time the Italian president was in Ukraine... 25 years ago... Especially now, we are talking about preparing a conference on reconstruction, I think that this is an important aspect, on the basis of which we could meet and discuss our next steps in Ukraine. Thus, we will see, let's hope that this visit of President Mattarella will take place," Zelenskyy said in an interview with the Italian TV channel RaiNews24.

In the interview, Zelenskyy also reportedly spoke about Italy's role in supporting Ukraine and the importance of EU and the U.S. unity in the fight against Russian aggression, as well as the importance of security guarantees for Ukraine and the EU.
