Some 500 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat flour sent to Syria – Zelenskyy

Some 500 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat flour, sent under the Grain from Ukraine program in cooperation with the World Food Programme (WFP), are already on their way to Syria, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"As promised, we are supporting the Syrian people in their time of need. 500 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat flour are already on their way to Syria as part of our Grain from Ukraine humanitarian program in cooperation with the WFP," Zelenskyy wrote on the social network X on Friday.

According to the president, it is planned that 33,250 Syrian families or 167,000 people will receive flour in the coming weeks.

"Each package weighs 15 kilograms and can feed a family of five for one month," Zelenskyy added.

He wished Syria and its people security, stability and renewal.

As reported, on December 23, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is interested in stabilizing the situation in Syria and is ready to supply food to this country, but considers it fundamental to remove any Russian presence to ensure the security of Syria and the entire Middle East region.
