The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is expanding support for vulnerable categories of Ukrainians, representatives of the fund said during a communication with Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Vereschuk.

"Assistance to families with children living in a 30-kilometer zone from the contact line in seven regions will continue. They will be provided UAH 21,800 to prepare for winter," the press service of the Office of the President said.

More than 103,000 people have already received payments, of which 44,000 are children. In addition, about 5,000 families have been provided with household fuel.

The program, under which a lump sum of UAH 10,800 will be provided to families with children who left the communities of Sumy and Kharkiv regions, where mandatory evacuation was announced, will also continue.

In addition, the number of schools in the frontline areas, which will receive cash grants from UNICEF for modernization of food processing units and preparation for winter, will increase from 350 to 800.

Vereschuk thanked UNICEF Representative to Ukraine Munir Mammadzade for the support provided to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians with children and called for further deepening of cooperation.
