Measures to evacuate civilians being stepped up in Kupyansk, Izium districts
The situation in the Kupyansk direction is getting worse, in the last 24 hours alone the invaders have carried out 26 attacks, therefore a decision has been made to strengthen measures to evacuate residents of the Kupyansk urban territorial community, said Oleh Synehubov, head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
"We have the most difficult situation in the Kupyansk direction - on the left bank of the Oskol River, which divides the city. ... there is constant shelling there," he said on the national telethon on Tuesday.
According to him, "the situation is worsening now due to the fact that we cannot ensure the heating season there, the provision of electricity, the provision of humanitarian aid, because the enemy is shelling critical infrastructure," Synehubov said.
He pointed out that the evacuation of families with children from frontline communities in Kupyansk district is still ongoing. "Some 234 children with their families were evacuated from September 9 to October 14. There are still 35 children to evacuate. In connection with the security situation, a decision has been made today to strengthen measures to evacuate the civilian population in Kupyansk district, including the town of Kupyansk," Synehubov noted.
In addition to Kupyansk urban community, people will be evacuated from Kondrashivska, Kurylivska and Petropavlivska communities. "In addition, a decision has been made on the mandatory evacuation of families from Borovska territorial community of Izium district. Some 119 children from the village of Borova are subject to evacuation," Synehubov noted.
According to him, evacuation measures will be intensified, since people are reluctant to leave.
