MP Odarchenko on wanted list after not showing up in court
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) has put on wanted list Ukrainian MP Andriy Odarchenko (Servant of the People faction), who is charged with providing undue benefit to Head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Mustafa Nayyem.
"A Ukrainian MP of the 9th convocation, charged with providing an undue benefit to the head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, did not appear in the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) on September 18, 2024," it said in a statement on the Telegram channel on Wednesday.
According to SAPO, the MP did not report any reasons for his absence to the court and the prosecutor. Also, his defense team was unable to tell the location of their client, saying that they could not reach him.
"Taking this into account, the prosecutor raised in court the issue of recovering in the income of the state bail, determined as a measure of restraint to the MP, imposing a monetary penalty on him, as well as declaring him wanted," it said.
SAPO also specified that the court ruled to bring the accused MP to the next court hearing, scheduled for September 19, 2024 at 8 a.m.
On November 22, 2023, at the request of SAPO, the investigating judge of the HACC applied to the MP a measure of restraint in the form of detention with the alternative of UAH 15 million bail.
As the bail was posted, appropriate procedural obligations were imposed on the MP, among which were to surrender his passports for traveling abroad and to wear an electronic control device.
Subsequently, at the request of the prosecutor, the obligations were repeatedly extended by the court. However, despite the court ruling, the law enforcement authorities did not use the electronic control device.
SAPO does not specify the name of the MP. Judging by the case's background, it is Odarchenko.
