"With the principled position of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the Lviv Court of Appeal detained an 18-year-old resident of Dnipro, suspected of premeditated murder of a public figure, People's Deputy of Ukraine of the VII convocation Iryna Farion (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the department said on the Telegram channel on Monday.

The prosecutor's office recalls that earlier the Halytsky district court of Lviv chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention without an alternative to bail. The suspect's defender filed an appeal against this decision of the investigating judge, asked for a preventive measure in the form of round-the-clock house arrest.

"According to the results of the court session, the court refused to satisfy the lawyer's appeal and upheld the previously chosen preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to post a bail," the message says.

As reported, MP of Ukraine of the 7th convocation from the All-Ukrainian Association Svoboda, ex-lecturer of the Lviv Polytechnic University, Iryna Farion, was fatally wounded on the evening of July 19 near her home in Lviv. She died in the hospital a few hours later.

Zinchenko was detained by police officers in the city of Dnipro on July 25 and notified of suspicion of premeditated murder.

Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, said that the investigation has strong evidence of the suspect's involvement in the commission of the specified crime. According to him, the suspect arrived in Lviv on July 9, rented three apartments, and bought the clothes in which he was watching the house of Farion on the Internet and sent these clothes himself by mail. After committing the crime, he left Lviv on July 21.

The minister also said that the weapon from which the murder was committed has not yet been found and the investigation believes that this is a converted sports pistol.
