Restoration Ministry wants to extend 'transport visa-free regime' for one year without changes

The Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine is making efforts to extend the agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on freight transportation by road, "transport visa-free regime," for one year (the agreement is valid until June 30, 2024) without changes.

"Our plan is to extend the agreement without changes... For one year, without any changes," Deputy Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Serhiy Derkach said in a blitz-interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, the ministry sent a letter to the European Commission with a request to hold a working meeting by the end of the month on extending the agreement on "visa-free transport regime" with the participation of all interested countries.

"There are countries that we know for sure agree to extend the agreement, they have no objections... There are countries from which comments were received on the agreement. All other countries did not have them and agreed with the statement that this agreement contributes to the development of the economy in the European Union," Derkach said.

According to him, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary have comments. The Baltic countries, Finland, Sweden, and France support the agreement on "visa-free transport regime."

"I know that the European Commission does not support all of the proposals sent by Poland," Derkach clarified.
