Moldova joins EU Single Market Program

The Moldovan parliament on Friday ratified an agreement with the European Union on the country's participation in the Single Market Program.

The Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament's Economic, Budget and Finance Commission Radu Marian has noted that following the document's ratification, Moldovan entrepreneurs will gain broader access to European funds. "This will help facilitate a consistent structure of financing for the purpose of maintaining the key goals of ensuring the safety of food products, protecting consumers and supporting small and medium-sized businesses. The program envisages producing and distributing high-quality European statistical data. It will be possible to assess EU policies; citizens, authorities, businesses and decision-makers will be able to take part in the democratic process and make well-founded decisions," Marian said.

Moldova will gain access to financial instruments, best practices and advanced expertise of the other countries that are beneficiaries of the Single Market Program.

The program's budget totals EUR 4.2 billion for the period of 2021-2027.

Moldova signed an agreement with the EU on the country's participation in the Single Market Program on September 8, 2023.
