The transit of agricultural products from Ukraine through Poland will resume on Saturday, April 21. Control will be carried out at the border, Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Solsky has said.

According to him, transit control will be performed by tracking goods in transit through the country in Poland's SENT electronic system.

"The Poles will be able to show what is happening [transit, not import] if there is a request from society. The tracker shows that a truck or a railway car goes to ports or other EU countries," the minister said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

Solsky said that in the first week, at the request of the Polish side, its customs officers will be able to carry out physical escort of products by customs officers "in order to work out conclusions for themselves."

The minister also added that any company "that wants to sell something to Germany can do it [transit] from today."

Solsky said that Poland's share of the total export of agricultural products from Ukraine was 10%, half of which was in transit, and a half was imported.

"Of Western countries, the largest transit is through Romania, the smallest – through Slovakia. Poland was the second country after Romania in exports and domestic consumption," the minister said.

"If we're talking about Hungary, it's 5-6%, about Slovakia - 1.5%, about Romania - it's tens of percent, of which 90% is transit," Solsky said.

The ministry is still calculating Ukraine's potential losses due to problems with exports.
