Gazprom wants Donbas gas supplies kept out of Stockholm arbitration with Naftogaz

Gazprom is working to have the gas volumes it supplies to territory in the Donbas not under Kyiv's control held out of its dispute with Naftogaz Ukrainy in the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, Naftogaz Chief Commercial Director Yuriy Vitrenko told journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Gazprom argues there should be no decision on gas volumes supplied to the territory [not controlled by Kyiv]. We, in turn, are saying that any calculation is the price multiplied by volume. Without knowing the volume, it is impossible to say who owes what to whom," Vitrenko said.

Gazprom currently demands that Naftogaz pay for gas delivered to the Donbass territory not controlled by Kyiv. However, Ukraine argues that these volumes were not contracted. "Any payments to Gazprom could be credited as payment for supplies to ORDLO [the Ukrainian acronym for the Donbas territory not in its control]. For us, this is unacceptable," Vitrenko said.

Gazprom is currently claiming payment of $1.3 billion for supplies to that territory, he said.
